i loved the first book so much because of the feeling of how i could sympathize with the character it made me imagine what every scene looked like leo cleaning the dragon jason piper and leo having burgers in the sewers together i loved it all so when a comic came out i bought it and i did expect to have some finite details left out like the french part of the ice castle but when i read the book i was straight disappointed it left out so many details that made the book have the funny charming part of it cut out like leo sneaking arond the Cyclops garage prepareing to fight but it just goes straight to combat you dont even know how he got the claw it just goess right to leo killing them and then the polt just continues like nothing happened like come on dude this had so much potential but i just felt so dry so little bulid up once the final scene happens you barely have a clue what happened had a huge chance but it turned sour. I freaking HATE the art. What is this? I’ll forgive the story skipping over important parts because it’s a graphic novel and they have to cut things to make it work. But I don’t understand why they skipped Midas to camp in a cave. Just...why?? Lityerses is introduced when they meet Midas and he makes a reappearance later on, so it felt weird to me they’d skip that. Anyway, the story is alright. The absolutely terrible art kills it for me though. The characters are all so badly done, like the artist was super drunk or something while drawing them. A lot of times their eyes don’t even match. I hate it. So much. I was cringing while reading this book because the art is just so freaking bad... I actually didn’t read the last few pages at all because the art is just garbage. The angles are generic, the expressions looked like they were pulled from cleaning product commercials, and for some reason Chiron is brown despite being described as a white stallion multiple times. Altogether this graphic novel looks like it was made by someone that has never so much as picked up a comic book.Edit: I added a star because the nightmares of Leo’s screaming face chasing me subsided last week and I felt I may have been hasty in my judgement of an otherwise mediocre graphic novel. This art style would be well suited for horror stories, though.
